Oh man.. I don't know if it's the game.. or if it's just Sicily.. Probably the latter.. But it's beautiful as ****.
Seriously though. This game looks great and I can't remember how many times I took the time to just look into the distance..
Then again it also does have it's weaknesses here and there but nothing major.
I just wish those great graphics wouldn't come at a price, but what you gonna do in 2025 on 4k if you don't want to rely on DLSS, FSR or XLSS and frame generation..

Well.. If you liked Mafia 1 and 2 (definitive editions) then I'm sure you'll probably like the gameplay in this game too.
Someone realized that Mafia 3 was really bad and barely anyone liked it.. And they did something about it in the new game and went back to how the first two games were..
They also added something new like knife fights and horse riding..
But honestly. While the horse Riding is cool and all.. I could've lived without the knife fights..
It just doesn't feel good and the way they force the story to make them happen also doesn't really feel good either..
Otherwise you can expect the same stuff as in the other Mafia games..
- Realistic vehicle handling
- Immersive weapon handling
- Lots of collectibles
Is there anything more you need? Exactly. You don't.. Well ok the playboy magazines are kinda missing but that's it..
Oh well and collecting the collectibles doesn't feel like something that happens while you play the story, but instead something that you have to either pause the story for or do it after finishing the story..

Oh man, oh man, oh man.. Yea I don't know.. I mean there was audio..
But what I was kinda missing.. Was music.. I remember in the 2 streams I did I was heavily missing music at times..
I mean yea ok, they didn't have radios in their vehicles or on their horses yet..
But does that mean we can't have any background music because of that?
Something that complements the story? Way too many times it felt just way too quiet.. Even though the game did have some nice music..
But most of it I discovered after finishing the game and checking the extras on the main menu.. Kind of sad.

Yea well.. I already kind of mentioned it, but this game does require a pretty decent build.
I mean I played on 4k which most people probably don't do.. But even looking at the recommended specs..

The game is pretty easy. Even the race is pretty easy compared to Mafia 1 Definitive Edition Classic Difficulty.
There was one point at which I was struggling, but mostly because I just couldn't go the way the game wanted me to go and the guy shooting at me with his fully automatic sniper rifle with an unlimited supply of ammunition and no need to reload killing me in 2 shots just wouldn't give me a break..

There are collectibles again, because what would a Mafia game be without its playboy mag... Well okay this one doesn't have any playboy magazines..
But it does have collectibles non the less.. And it doesn't necessarily feel good to collect them.
In my playthrough on the highest difficulty I didn't feel like I had the time to actually go around and collect stuff as you rarely can actually just move around on your own without "leaving the mission area".
On the other hand, I also didn't feel like you actually needed the collectibles to progress. I mean there are collectibles which give you certain perks.. But honestly.. They aren't necessary at all.
So it's mostly something for after finishing your run I suppose. And only if you want to collect everything.

Oh man, oh man, oh man.. I already said that? Oh man.. Yea well.. This game is making me repeat myself a lot..
Honestly I can't understand what most of the positive reviews are talking about.. Best Mafia game ever? No way dawg..
Seriously.. This game just feels like a Mafia 1 clone and I'm glad that I'm not the only one who noticed it.
When I finished the game on my second stream I went on for at least 15 minutes talking about I disappointed I was and how predictable everything was..
Like seriously, all the time I've been predicting what's gonna happen next just because it is so similar to other Mafia games..
I mean.. It really feels like Mafia 1 but with different characters in a different area and time..
Man i don't know.. I mean I'd like to say the story wasn't bad.. Just because it was predictable and didn't feel like something new and fresh doesn't mean it's bad right?
But on top of it feeling like Mafia 1 it also didn't really make sense in a lot of places.. It felt like they forced things in the story just so that they could show of their new Knife fighting..
Every friggin knife fight started with you being knocked over while still having your weapons swung around you, then as soon as you hit the ground, the camera moves and your weapons are suddenly gone..
So obviously you're going to have a weak ass knife fight..
Or that one time, fairly early on, when you had to save someone from bandits.. and once again you lose your weapons SOMEHOW and the leader of the bandits is locking his shotgun on you..
But SOMEHOW you challenge him to a knife fight and SOMEHOW he just drops his shotgun and gets himself killed just so that the story can go on because the main character obviously can't be killed by a bandit early on just because he can't keep track of his friggin weapons..
Every friggin boss fight is a knife fight and it honestly made the game and the story a lot less fun for me..
Honestly though.. I wish they would've just tried something new with the story.. Back to the roots is nice and all..
And I know they also tried something new for Mafia 3 and it didn't work out.. But that doesn't mean that trying something new is bad..
I believe just having a happy ending would've already made it a lot better in my eyes.
☐ Long enough for a cup of coffee

☐ Long
☐ To infinity and beyond
Honestly the game felt kinda short. But I suppose it's not much different than Mafia 1 and 2 so it's fine.
I finished it in 2 sessions/streams with a total of 12 hours while, according to How Long To Beat the main story is about 12 hours and a completionist run could be anywhere between 16 to 36 hours.
So basically 4 to 24 hours just for the collectibles. Sounds fun.
☐ It's free!
☐ Worth the price
☑ If it's on sale
☐ If u have some spare money left
☐ Not recommended
☐ You could also just burn your money
Yea no.. the game is currently 49.99€ on Steam and honestly. It feels too expensive for the disappointment I felt after I finished it.
I mean sure I went for the Deluxe Edition.. Which by the way is a waste of money too. It just kind of makes the game feel like pay to win.
I would definitely wait for a sale if you really want to play the game itself. I mean it's not a bad game per se, but it does have it's weaknesses..
You can of course as always check Fanatical for a better price and support me at the same time!
☐ Never heard of
☑ Minor bugs

☐ ARK: Survival Evolved
☐ The game itself is a big terrarium for bugs
Well yea there are a few annoying things, but most of the time it's fine.
There was this one thing I already talked about earlier which killed me a few times before it finally triggered and I could move the way the game wanted me to go..
But besides that it's really just small stuff.

While i do have a lot to complain about the game still gets a 6/10 from me. It's not the worst game I've played..
It's just that there were quite a bunch of disappointments and that it could've been a lot better.. It didn't quite meet my expectations..
