This game is beautiful to look at. Almost every area is interesting to look around in, even in the "open-word", that's not mainly the place where most of the story takes place.
The developers did a good job at adding some random encounters here and there to keep the game interesting almost wherever you go.
Bonus points if you're a Harry Potter fan (both the books and movies). The developers spent their time researching everything so the fans of both "worlds" would be satisfied.

In this game, you play as a "late, 5th year student" that's on his or her way to Hogwarts, but there are a lot of things that make your journey there more difficult.
During the game, you learn spells to make you stronger in combat.
The gameplay feels a little bit "Souls like", because you're kind of blasting spells at enemies and roll-dodging enemies and their attacks.
But this isn't necessary a bad thing, since you're using the spells from the books/movies and the game makes it pretty interesting to use your spells as combos AND you have to keep an eye on what your enemies are doing.
Some spells are better for a specific type of enemy OR you need to use a selection of spells to break through their shield.
I'm not going to lie, but some parts of the game feel very repetitive and this game is also an RPG, so there will be a lot of talking to different characters, but almost everything is skippable, so a lot of "side quests" that don't really follow the story are not super important and can easily be skipped if you really want to.
--> Also one additional note. If you want to replay the game (since you have 4 houses to choose from), you always have to do the intro of the game again, which is sadly NOT skippable.

This game has a lot of nice musical tunes or themes, obviously the main theme from the Harry Potter movies can be heard in some parts of the game.
But other then just the music, the sound effects and the general sound that the game has is very well placed and feel right.
Also if you have a good headset with a decent "surround" option, you can hear VERY good where some sounds are coming from, which is always a nice touch when you're fighting enemies.

Hogwarts Legacy has a PEGI rating of 12+ because of moderate violence and use of bad language.
This age rating seems right, because there are indeed some scenes which can be "brutal" for younger audiences.
But of course, the main audience for this game are definitely the Harry Potter fans. As of writing this article, Harry Potter is 28 years old.
Don't get me wrong, you don't need to have read or watched the movies to understand what's going on in this game, because the game takes place before the story of Harry Potter.

This game is pretty heavy, so a fast or strong pc is recommended if you want to play on some higher quality settings or want to increase your fps, especially when you enter some bigger or open areas.
Minimum requirements, as mentioned by Steam:
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: 64-bit Windows 10
- Processor: Intel Core i5-6600 (3.3Ghz) or AMD Ryzen 5 1400 (3.2Ghz)
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 4GB or AMD Radeon RX 470 4GB
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 85 GB available space
- Additional Notes: SSD (Preferred), HDD (Supported), 720p/30 fps, Low Quality Settings

☐ Dark Souls
It's not because this game has some "Dark Souls Mechanics", that the difficulty should be ranked as "Dark Souls". This game is definitely easier than Dark Souls, but it will take some time to remember your spell slots etc.
There is also some micromanagement, especially during combat. Since you "only" have 4 available spell slots, you sometimes might have to swap between spell slots DURING combat.
You also have to dodge or roll away from enemy attacks AND keep track of what sort of protection the enemies are using.
However, later in the game, when you level up more, the spells and mechanics become easier to remember + the skill trees (or talent points) can make you stronger and help you more in combat.
☐ Nothing to grind
☐ Only if u care about leaderboards/ranks
☐ Isn't necessary to progress
☑ Average grind level
☑ Too much grind
☐ You'll need a second life for grinding
This is a pretty hard rating to give. Because there are A LOT of collectibles in the game, it should be mentioned as "too much grind" if you want to collect EVERY single thing in the game, complete every single task, ... Then you will have to spend A LOT of time.
But if you just care about finishing the game, you still need to grind a bit and progress through the story (obviously). But I also recommend to do some of the side quests, since they might give you access to more XP/spells/...
Other than that, to just complete the main story, a lot of quests are either "talk to this person" or "deliver this item to that character", ... So there are definitely some more annoying quests in there.

The story of Hogwarts Legacy is very well crafted by the developers.
They obviously took a lot of lore from the Harry Potter universe, but they also "invented" something of their own which made the story feel like more than just a Harry Potter simulation.
The character that you play has some very unique and special powers called "ancient magic", which is something VERY rare and only a few people actually have.
I'm not going into too much detail about the actual story, but here is a short summary:
Hogwarts Legacy is set in the 1800s. You play as a fifth-year student starting late at Hogwarts with the unique "ancient magic" powers.
After a wild dragon attack on the way to school, you learn that you’re caught up in a conflict involving a goblin rebellion led by Ranrok and other wizards teaming up with him. Ranrok’s after powerful ancient magic, which the player obviously wields.
While attending classes, dueling magical creatures, brewing potions, catching magical beasts and more, you uncover secrets about Hogwarts, ancient magic, and some weird stuff from the school’s past.
Along the way, you get to explore Hogwars, make friends (or enemies), fight bad guys, and decide whether you'll use your powers for good or the bad.
--> Also a very importan SPOILER: The game gives you A LOT of choices, but they barely have any impact of the story other than some dialogue changes.
(Also, the house that you choose at the beginning of the game doesn't really matter, only that every house has a different story element, somewhere in the middle of the game).
☐ Long enough for a cup of coffee
☐ Short
☐ Average
☑ Long
☐ To infinity and beyond
Depending on what you'd like to do (just casually play through the game or get all the optional collectibles), according to How Long to Beat, the game takes around 26 hours to complete. (This is calculated without skipping any cutscenes).
Speedrunners can finish the game in under 4 hours, depending on what the category is.
If you want to go for a 100% run, it can take up to 70 hours to fully complete the game.
☐ It's free!
☑ Worth the price
☐ If it's on sale
☐ If u have some spare money left
☐ Not recommended
☐ You could also just burn your money
As of writing this article, the price on Steam is 59,99€ (for the base game) which is a fair price for this game.
There are also no microtransactions but there is a Digital Deluxe edition which costs 69,99€.
This DLC will just give you some more cosmetic items in game, which are not required to finish the game.
☐ Never heard of
☑ Minor bugs
☐ Can get annoying
☐ ARK: Survival Evolved
☐ The game itself is a big terrarium for bugs
I've played this game on the day of release and since then I didn't have any game breaking glitches or bugs.
As of today, I played the game again and still didn't find any game breaking glitches or bugs.
The only thing that I should mention, is that there are "cloth simulations" in this game, so there are some (funny) visual glitches, where characters clothes can have some weird interactions or clippings.
So most of the glitches you will find are some visual glitches, which might lead to some funny sightings.

As a big Harry Potter fan, this game is definitely worth an 8/10.
The reason why it's not higher (as a fan) is because of the repetitive or "annoying" side quests.
At a lot of points in the game, I was very curious to know about some characters what their stories where or whatever, but then it was usually some random quest of "please get me x amount of a random item".
--> Also! There is no Quidditch in the game (but luckily you can fly around the world on your broom) and for what I found, no Photo mode!
